This system benefits elderly listeners by slowing down radio broadcasts or the speech in television programs.
Its obvious that the older people have some hearing complexions due to arious reasons.
This disability might include difficulty in perceiving specific frequencies and problem in understanding speech with large amount of background noice.
Its also known that with age comes a decreased ability to understand rapid speech.In order to reach this audience,STRL felt that something new had to be done.
since it does’nt seem meaningful that the television announcers would slow down,so they applied the speech rate conversion method to this problem.
By shortening the pauses between sentences,the slowed speech can be presented in real time.
It is used in languages other than Japanese like English, German,Chinese,French etc.
