A federal agency has contact with Apple and ordered an import ban on HTC phones that infringe on a patent to the iPhone maker.ITC said that HTC corp. may import some refurbished phones to offer customers as replacements under warranties and insurance plans.HTC is based on Taiwan,which is a major maker of phones and use Google Android operating software.Phones are covered by the ban and HTC general counsel grace said the patent in question and affects a small part of user experience.

Apple had complained about HTC violating and several patents in 2010 April and the commission narrowed the decision down to just one patent.Patent in question deals with data detection and enabling smart phone functions like the ability to tap the phone number or address which is included in the email.Apple spokes woman Kristen Huguet says competitors to create own technology.

In federal courts and before the ITC , companies accuse one another by stealing ideas for popular phone features.The courts award damages and the commission has the power to block imports of products and parts made with contested technology.U.S International trade commission has issued an initial ruling in October and the Apple’s iPhone does not violate four patents,which is owned by HTC.
